Regardless of the precipitating event that has landed folks in my office over the years, each client has experienced childhood trauma and family of origin difficulties in some capacity. I have yet to see an exception to this.
If you are a practicing therapist—trauma-specialized or otherwise—you have clients with a childhood trauma history. I recognize the complexities and challenges therapists face when addressing childhood trauma with their clients. I’ve experienced them myself! My specialized clinical consultations are designed to provide guidance and support in working with your clients.
Maybe it’s time for your client to start working through their trauma, but you’re unsure how to transition into this phase of healing. I can help you think through next steps and offer insight into how your client’s history impacts them today.
Or maybe there’s a countertransference issue that keeps coming up for you, or you tend to shy away from parts of your clients’ stories. Unexamined parts of your story may be unconsciously getting in your way. I can help you get clarity on these hindrances so you can connect with and support your clients more deeply. I know that I’m able to work with trauma in the way that I do because I’ve done this type of work in my own life.
I also offer clinical supervision for LCSW licensure. If you’re interested in treating childhood trauma, I’d love to support you as you work toward licensure.
